I Started With Cat/Cow Two Years Ago. Now I'm Back to Full Strength Training.

Too busy to read? Listen to the audio below:
After having my son, my starting point of exercise was almost embarrassing, especially as an athlete and personal trainer. I could only do cat/cow, hip circles and light stretches. Movements so basic they felt silly compared to what I used to do, like heavy back squats, sled pushes, pull ups, deadlifts, jumping, you get the picture.
Why I Started So Small
I started like that because I had to, my body had gone through so much in the last few years before having my son. Then during delivery I had an unplanned c-section and the stitches were not healing as nicely as they could have, so I couldn't do much for weeks! My body needed to rebuild from the ground up, not jump back into where I left off. So I started there, and only there. Slowly, as I felt better over months of work, I added more exercises and started to see the progress I wanted.
Where I Am Now
Today, 2.5 years postpartum, I'm back to 2 to 3 strength days a week, one cardio day, and daily mobility work. But none of that would have happened if I skipped the beginning. But yet most people don't do the foundation phase and expect to jump back into activities after having kids, only to get injured or so discouraged they quit. Then they believe this is just the way life is now, well I call bullshit. Any women at any ge can improve their mobility and strength, and I have 75 year old clients to prove it!

Why This Matters for You
If your starting point feels too small to count, hear me clearly: it still counts! Every strong body you've ever seen started somewhere simpler than where it ended up. But for some reason our brains assume we can jump to their level. So remember to not compare your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 15.
That's exactly why I created 5 minute movements for busy moms. It doesn't matter how old your kids are or how long it's been since you moved intentionally. You start small, you build gradually, and you feel amazing on the other side of consistency. I guarantee it!
You Don't Need an Hour
You only need 5 minutes and a starting point. That's it. The strength comes later. The habit comes first. So think about your current situation and what can you easily add? For some women it's a quick walk or dancing or stretching. Finding things you can handle and actually want to do are the keys to keeping it going. Then make it a priority in your day, I find doing it before lunch has a much higher success rate, but find a time that works for you and do it daily!
