I Hated My Body After Having My Son. Here's What Got Me Through.

No time to read? Listen Below:
I have all the knowledge in the world about postpartum recovery. Give it time. Heal first. Build slowly. Progressive overload throughout the body.
None of that made me immune to hating what I saw in the mirror.
The Gap Between Knowing and Feeling
After having my son, I felt weak and flabby. I didn't recognize my own body. I was proud of everything I had gone through, and I still had moments of real dislike for what I saw.
As a personal trainer, that hit different. There was this quiet pressure to bounce back fast, to prove I could practice what I preached. But knowledge doesn't cancel out being human. I had bad body image days just like anyone else.
The truth I had to accept was simple. It takes time. No matter your background, no matter what you used to be able to do.
Starting Over, Even When It Felt Small
I had to listen to my body and challenge it appropriately, even when the exercises felt embarrassingly simple compared to what I used to do before having a baby.
But I kept going, because I remembered what it felt like to be strong. That memory kept me moving forward, one small step at a time.
Here's what I realized along the way. If you've never felt strong or confident in your body, you might not even know what you're missing. You don't know what you're chasing because you've never felt it.
That's exactly why I do this work. Every mom, at every level, deserves to feel strong. Deserves confidence. Deserves to like being in her own body. Whatever quality you're striving for, you deserve to actually feel it, not just read about it.
Where I Am Now
I'm currently 2.5 years postpartum. My strength gains are finally coming back the way I remember them.
I like to look back at where I started. Bodyweight squats used to be hard after having my son. Now I'm back squatting 135 pounds for 6 reps.
That's the part people don't see. The distance between where you start and where you end up, if you just keep showing up. And to make sure you aren't comparing your chapter 1 to my chapter 15. I also had a chapter 1 and had to follow the simple steps through it.

The Journey Never Fully Ends
I don't think I'll ever be "done." I'll always be working toward a healthier version of myself, and I love walking that same road alongside the moms I coach.
Strength isn't a destination. It's something you keep building, season after season.
If You're Struggling to Feel Strong in Your Body
If you've never felt confident or capable in your own skin, you're not asking for too much by wanting that. You deserve it, at any starting point.
Inside the program REBUILT, we build that strength one realistic step at a time, no matter where you're starting from.
